The police in several cities have taken action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters and leaders for allegedly blocking roads, raising slogans against state institutions, and taking out a rally on Friday.
In Gujranwala, cases have been registered against MPAs Tariq Gujjar and Kaleemullah, Sunni Ittehad Council MNA Ehsan Virk and ticket holder Asadullah. Additionally, 140 other individuals, both nominated and unidentified, have been booked for their involvement in blocking roads and chanting slogans against government institutions.
The police said Kaleemullah and Gujjar shouted slogans against the institutions and blocked roads. The cases were registered in Civil Line and Dhulle police stations, wherein the MPAs have been booked under sections of issuing orders for the action.
The houses of the suspects were also raided, while arrests have not yet been made, the police added.
Separate cases were filed against Ehsan Virk and Asadullah in Baghbanpura and Kamoke Saddar police stations over interference in government affairs, raising slogans against state institutions, blocking roads and inciting people. Police have conducted raids to arrest the suspects.
Furthermore, Rahim Yar Khan witnessed two cases being registered against 87 PTI workers, including MPA Asif Majeed, for similar offenses of blocking roads and shouting slogans against institutions. The cases also involve sections of violations of the Amplifier Act.
A case was also filed against PTI leadership in Karachi Company police station of Islamabad for organizing a protest rally. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Secretary General Omar Ayub, Aamir Dogar, Shoaib Shaheen, Ali Bukhari, Amir Mughal are among the 150 people who have been named in the FIR.
The cases registered include provisions for violating Section 144, clashing with the police, and making hateful speeches.
In Gojra also, a case was registered in City police station for organising a protest rally. The case also includes provisions for display of weapons and road-blocking. The FIR mentions eight nominated and 15 unidentified persons.
These developments highlight the ongoing political turmoil and unrest in Punjab, with multiple cases being registered against politicians and party workers for their involvement in disruptive activities. The Punjab police are actively pursuing legal action against those found violating the law, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order in the region.
