Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim appointed PHC acting CJ

Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim has been appointed acting Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC). President Asif Ali Zardari appointed Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim as Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court under Article 196 of the Constitution.

A notification of the permanence of the six additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) was also issued.

The appointment will be effective from the day of swearing in, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim is the senior most judge of Peshawar High Court and he will remain acting Chief Justice until appointed as permanent Chief Justice.

After the President’s approval, the Ministry of Law has also issued a notification to make six additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) permanent.

The Judicial Commission had unanimously recommended making six judges permanent and the Parliamentary Committee.

Justice Amjad Ali Bohiu, Justice Sana Akram Minhas, and Justice Jawad Akbar Sarwa were among the SHC who were made permanent.
