Asif Ali Zardari takes oath as 14th President of Pakistan

Asif Ali Zardari took oath as 14th President of Pakistan in a ceremony held at the President’s House in Islamabad on Sunday.

All preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the 14th President of the country have been completed wherein Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is all set to assume the presidency for the record second time.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa administered oath from the newly elected president. Important personalities including political and military leaders, foreign ambassadors attended the ceremony.

A guard of honor was presented to the new President on the day after the swearing-in ceremony.

ECP issues Form-7 on Presidential elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released Form-7 on the presidential elections. As perhe form, Asif Alsi Zardari has been elected as President of Pakistan.

1044 members, including national and provincial members, cast their votes in which 319 members voted for Mehmood Khan Achakzai.  According to Form 7, nine votes were rejected while 1035 votes were declared valid.

As per ECP, 716 members voted for Asif Zardari and according to the electoral college, Asif Ali Zardari got 411 votes while Sunni Ittehad Council-backed candidate Mehmood Achakzai secured 181 electoral votes.
