
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday issued notifications for reserved seats for women in Sindh and Balochistan assemblies.
In a notification, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has secured a lion’s share of the reserved seats for women in the Sindh Assembly.
Out of the 14 allocated seats, the PPP clinched 10 in the notable names among the elected representatives including Shazia Murri, Nafisa Shah, Shaughta Jamani, Shahida Rahmani, and Shehla Raza.
Meanwhile, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has also made significant inroads, securing representation with Asia Ishaq, Sabin Ghori, Nighat Shakeel, and Rana Ansar emerging victorious.
In Balochistan, the allocation of 11 reserved seats for women witnesses a diverse distribution among political entities.
The PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have each secured three seats. Moreover, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) clinched two seats, while the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Awami National Party (ANP), and National Party (NP) secured one seat each.
