The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, engaged in discussions with Pakistani authorities regarding the post-election situation in Pakistan and emphasized the importance of resolving any electoral disputes through legal procedures to ensure a peaceful transition of power.

He urged all parties involved to avoid actions that could escalate tensions and disrupt the peace and order in the country.

Recognizing the deep complexity of the situation in Pakistan, Guterres stressed the necessity of respecting the interests of the Pakistani people, particularly in terms of upholding human rights and the rule of law.

A spokesperson reiterated this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the rights of citizens and maintaining legal integrity.

Stephen Dujarric, another spokesperson, appealed to Pakistani authorities and political leaders to maintain a calm and conducive environment amidst the current circumstances. This call for calm reflects the UN’s commitment to supporting stability and peaceful dialogue in Pakistan during this critical period.
