Ranbir Kapoor faces FIR after chanting ‘Jai Mata Di’ on Christmas cake

2 min read

A Mumbai-based person filed a complaint with the local police against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, alleging that he and his family hurt religious sentiments in a viral Christmas celebration video.

In the video, the Kapoor family is seen pouring liquor on a cake, which Ranbir lights on fire while saying ‘Jai Mata Di.’

The complainant claims that in Hinduism, the fire god is invoked before other deities, and using intoxicants during the celebration of another religion’s festival, coupled with chanting ‘Jai Mata Di,’ was a deliberate act that offended religious sentiments.

As of now, no FIR (First Information Report) has been registered in the case.

The controversial video was captured during the Kapoor family’s annual Christmas lunch and gained significant attention on the internet.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt unveiled the face of their daughter Raha during the same event. The couple posed for paparazzi with their little one upon arriving for the family gathering.

Ranbir is currently enjoying the substantial box-office success of his recent film ‘Animal.’
