Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop and renowned sports presenter Zainab Abbas praised Aamer Jamal on Friday for having a dream Test debut against Australia at the Perth Cricket Stadium.

Aamer Jamal, who became the second Pakistan bowler after Arif Butt to claim a five-wicket haul on Australian shores, courtesy of the kind of courage he showed against Australia’s batting powerhouse.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 56-year-old commentator said, “That’s a Test debut that Aamer Jamal won’t forget.”

Zainab was impressed with the bowling brilliance of Jamal. “Aamer Jamal had been impressive, getting the ball to shape away and creating some chances,” she said.

Aamer Jamal has been impressive, getting the ball to shape away and creating some chances, but the genuine lack of pace in the lineup (apart from the questionable fielding) has hurt Pakistan, will require a massive batting effort to keep themselves in the game now. #AusvPak

However, Zainab bemoaned the lack of pace executed by the Pakistan bowlers overall. She also expressed her concerns about the team’s loopholes in the fielding department.

“The genuine lack of pace in the lineup (apart from the questionable fielding) has hurt Pakistan and will require a massive batting effort to keep themselves in the game now,” she maintained.
