It’s true police officials are recruited against bribes: PHC CJ

2 min read

The Peshawar High Court chief justice admitted on Tuesday that police officials were recruited against bribes, adding that even at his residence, four out of the five personnel were recruited against bribes.

Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim made these remarks while hearing a case of violence by the superintendent of police (training) against a retired sub-inspector.

The CJ was heading a two-member bench of the court hearing the case.

During the hearing, the CJ asked the SI what the dispute between the two officials was. The SI replied that the SP tortured him because he had evidence against him of corruption and taking bribes for recruitment.

The CJ remarked that it was true that policemen were recruited over bribes, adding that even at his residence, four out of the five personnel had been hired against bribes.

“If the SP gave the SI his share, this may not have happened,” he added.

The court gave both parties the opportunity to mutually reconcile; saying otherwise the court would decide the matter.
