KP bans entry of men into girls schools

1 min read

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to ban the entry of men into girls’ schools throughout the province.

According to the decision, in case of any event or programme at the schools, the chief guest will also have to be a woman.

This step has reportedly been taken following complaints submitted on the government’s citizens portal.

A similar decision was previously taken in October 2018, when the then chief minister of the province, Mahmood Khan, had ordered a complete ban on the entry of men into girl schools and said the schools should invite women lawmakers and role models as chief guests to any kind of event throughout the province.

Mahmood Khan had said that the KP Education Department should also discourage publicity of social and annual functions of girls schools on social media, adding that girls should be made aware of the social, culture and Islamic values throughout the province.
