According to details, the Mianwali Express collided with a goods train stationed at Qila Sattar Shah station in the Ferozewala area, as a result of which 20 passengers were injured.

As per railway officials, the train was en route from Mianwali to Lahore when it rammed into a good train parked at the station. The injured included the train driver and assistant.

According to the police, the accident happened due to the alleged negligence of the railway station staff as they did not change the railway track. They added that all the injured have been shifted to a hospital, while those with minor injuries were administered first aid on the spot.

It may be noted that at least 10 coaches of the Hazara Express had derailed near Nawabshah last month as a result of which 30 passengers were killed and more than 40 injured.

A day before the Nawabshah accident, the Allama Iqbal Express had escaped a major disaster when two of its coaches derailed near the Padidan railway station, resulting in suspension of traffic on the affected railway track. .

It should be noted that railway accidents occur due to dilapidated railway tracks, old railway structures, malfunctioning signals, wrong crossings, absence of gates on railway lines, mistakes of drivers, and other similar technical reasons.
