The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted New Zealand Cricket’s (NZC) offer of a white-ball series against the Men in Green at home next year. worldly news This information was reported on Sunday citing sources.
The NZC extended an offer to Pakistan last month, to tour New Zealand in 2024 for a series consisting of five T20Is or three ODIs after completing their tour of Australia.
According to sources, discussions are underway between the two cricket boards to finalize the proposed series schedule.
The series between Pakistan and New Zealand is likely to start in the second week of January as Pakistan have a free window before the home series against South Africa in February.
New Zealand has proposed to play the series after Pakistan’s tour of Australia ends in January 2024. Note that the three-match Test series will end on January 7.
The last time the Men in Green toured New Zealand was for a tri-series between the national team, the hosts and Bangladesh that preceded the T20 World Cup in October last year.
The Babar Azam-led side won the tri-series by defeating New Zealand by five wickets in the deciding match. Since then, the Kiwis have toured Pakistan twice, the first for a Test and ODI series beginning in late December 2021 and the other for a T20I and ODI series in April.
The two-match Test series was drawn in December, with the visitors winning the ODI 2–1. Whereas, this year’s five-match T20 series was tied 2-2 as the match witnessed a washout in Rawalpindi, where the hosts claimed a 4-1 victory in the ODI series last month.
