Afghan caretaker gov’t approves new fiscal year budget

1 min read

KABUL: After a delay for more than two months, the Afghan caretaker government has approved the national budget for the fiscal year 1402 on the Persian calendar starting March 21, government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Saturday.

The budget was delayed because the work on the formation process was ongoing and had to be finalized before the budget could be approved, Mujahid said.

The spokesman did not provide details about the exact amount of the budget, but said it will come into effect soon.

The caretaker government set the last fiscal year’s budget at 231.4 billion Afghanis (26.9 billion U.S. dollars).
