LAHORE: ICC chairman Greg Barkley and chief executive Geoff Allardyce arrived in Lahore on Tuesday on a two-day visit to meet top Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials.
PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Shetty (also an ICC Director) welcomed the International Cricket Council dignitaries as they arrived at the board’s headquarters at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Barrister Salman Nasir and other officials of the board were also present on the occasion.
The tour is considered crucial at a time when the PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are at loggerheads over the fate of the 2023 Asia Cup.
According to reports, the PCB will discuss issues related to Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled for India later this year, in a high-stakes meeting with the ICC chairman and CEO.
Matters related to Pakistan’s hosting of Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will also be discussed.
