
ISLAMABAD: Imad Wasim and Azam Khan are set to join the Seattle Orcas in the inaugural season of Major League Cricket (MLC) in the US, ESPNcricinfo has reported.
Although both players do not hold central contracts with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), they have agreed in principle to play for the Seattle-based team, a franchise backed by the GMR Group, which co-owns Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. League
The report also added that two other Pakistani players, who hold regular and central contracts in the national team, are also in talks with other franchises in the MLC. However, their participation in the tournament is awaiting approval from the PCB, which will decide whether to grant them a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to compete in the league.
According to media reports, the PCB has responded positively to the MLC’s request to include Pakistani players but has set a condition for their participation. The PCB has asked the MLC management to pay $25,000 for each player’s participation in the league.
The MLC is scheduled to take place in Dallas from July 13-30 and will feature six teams. The tournament has already attracted big name players from various cricket playing countries, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the inaugural season of the league.
