Rashid Latif says Babar, Kohli do not trust data to make strategic decisions

Latif believes that it is important for captains to have certain qualities like data analysis as well as resilience and determination

There are two big captains in world cricket, and I can say with confidence that they don’t believe in facts, one is Babar Azam and the other is Virat Kohli,” Latif said on his YouTube channel.

PCB has appointed Hasan Cheema as Secretary of the Selection Committee and Manager Analytics and Team Strategy for the National Men’s Team. Latif agrees with his appointment but feels that Cheema needs to bring the captain on board to make better use of data.

“Hassan Cheema has experience with data, whether he’s working with Islamabad United or anyone else [franchise]. Now, his job is to convince the captain about the use of data and then see how he will explain the data to the players and use it in the match, so that’s the first step,” Latif said.

Furthermore, Latif highlighted the importance of using domestic cricket data. “Using data in domestic cricket can improve things further,” he concluded.
