Babar Azam becomes skipper to smash most T20I centuries

LAHORE: Babar Azam reached another milestone of his career on Sunday when he hit a century against New Zealand and became captain of any cricket team in the world with most centuries in T20 Internationals.

The 100 runs against New Zealand in Lahore was the third century of Babar Azam’s T20 international career. India’s Rohit Sharma and Switzerland’s Faheem Nazir have scored two centuries each as captain and are second on the list.

However, Rohit Sharma tops the list of most international centuries with four on his credit, Babar Azam has scored three centuries, India’s Suryakumar Yadav, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, New Zealand’s Colin Munro and Czech Republic’s Sabron Davies have also scored three international centuries.

Babar Azam scored 33 fifties in T20 internationals, India’s Rohit Sharma has also scored 33 fifties. Only Virat Kohli with 38 fifties is ahead of both the players. Babar Azam has overtaken Inzamam-ul-Haq in the list of highest international run-scorers as Pakistan’s captain and is now at the third spot on the list.

Babar Azam has scored a total of 5,280 international runs as a captain, Misbah-ul-Haq is the first in this list with 7,392 runs, Imran Khan is second with 5,655 runs, Inzamam-ul-Haq has scored 5,179 runs as a captain.
