Saad for early installation of 300 automatic weather stations

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (ABC):Federal Minister of Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique Wednesday directed the concerned to expedite installation of 300 automatic weather stations in the country to ensure better forecasting.

Chairing a meeting in Meteorological Department, the minister said the country’s weather forecasting system can be improved by using modern technology.

The minister was briefed about the newly started projects being launched with the support of the World Bank.

He further directed to install artificial rainfall system in the areas having no canal water with the help of China.

Saad Rafiq also directed to create a business model for the financial self-reliance of the meteorological department.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Senior Joint Secretary and Director General of Meteorological Department.
