Senior Chinese legislator attends G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit

JAKARTA, Oct 7(ABC): Chen Zhu, vice chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee, led a delegation to the 8th Group of 20 (G20) Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit held here till Friday and delivered a keynote speech.

Chen said that exchanges and deeper cooperation among legislative bodies are of positive significance for the G20 to play its role.

Parliaments of the countries should uphold multilateralism and safeguard international equity and justice, adhere to openness and inclusiveness to jointly promote sustainable development of the world economy, and pursue green and low-carbon development to promote harmonious coexistence between man and nature, Chen said.

During the summit, Chen also met with Indonesia’s House of Representatives’ Speaker Puan Maharani, Saqr Ghubash, speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Suriname’s National Assembly Chairman Marinus Bee and President of Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco.
