ISLAMABAD, July 4(ABC): Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has dismissed reports and tweets claiming that the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) bailout programme for Pakistan is being postponed or delayed.

“I have been reading with some amusement all the tweets and stories about IMF programme being postponed or delayed due to some anti-corruption law. There is no truth to it,” tweeted Miftah, while assuring everyone that the programme “is on track”.

The finance minister tweeted while rejecting a report published in Global Village Space that claimed the IMF programme has been postponed.

The report said that the programme has been delayed over an “impasse on anti-corruption regulations, as well as other financial measures such as raising gas and electricity prices”.

The publication also claimed that apart from reviewing the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws, the government was willing to implement other financial measures being asked by the global money lender.
