Mexico’s Fatima Bouch was crowned Miss Universe 2025 in a dramatic finale held in Thailand, overcoming pre-final controversies and emerging as a crowd favorite.
The 25-year-old is well-known for her humanitarian work and volunteer efforts. Ahead of the final, Bouch staged a dramatic walkout after publicly confronting event director Nawat Itsaragrisil, who criticized her for allegedly failing to post promotional content on social media. Miss Iraq and several other contestants walked out in solidarity. Bouch described the director’s behavior as “demeaning” and emphasized that the platform empowers women to raise their voices.
Following the incident, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum praised Bouch as a role model for women. Event director Nawat later issued a public apology.
The final included contestants from Ivory Coast, the Philippines, Thailand, and Venezuela, all selected from over 120 participants. Despite several challenges during the event—including two judges resigning over alleged irregularities and accidents involving Miss UK and Miss Jamaica—Bouch impressed the panel with her poise and determination.
Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, required medical attention after a fall during the evening gown segment, but officials confirmed her injuries were not serious.
Miss Universe Organization President Raul Rocha commended all contestants for their resilience, highlighting Bouch’s performance as a shining example of grace under pressure.
Ultimately, Fatima Bouch’s courage and dedication earned her the Miss Universe 2025 crown, solidifying her status as a symbol of empowered women worldwide.
