KP CM files petition against ECP summons in Peshawar High Court

1 min read

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi has filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court challenging his summons by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In the petition, Afridi contended that the ECP summoned him without any valid reason or justification, citing various allegations. He described the commission’s action as illegal and a violation of constitutional provisions, including Articles 9, 10A, 17, and 25.

Afridi clarified that he neither conducted any election campaign nor violated any rules of the ECP. The petition requests that the notice issued by the ECP be declared unlawful and that any action against the Chief Minister be restrained.

Earlier, in response to the ECP summons, Afridi had sent his lawyer to appear before the commission. The lawyer, Ali Bukhari, represented Afridi regarding allegations of threatening government employees.

The matter was presented before a four-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner, with the Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also appearing in court.
