MQM leader and Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said that constitutional amendments can be made to the law governing the creation of provinces.
Speaking in a private TV channel programme, Kamal criticized the Sindh provincial government, saying that chief ministers are expected to handle essential services like waste management, which is being neglected. He highlighted the distribution of the NFC Award funds, stating that Sindh received Rs 2,400 billion this year, but Karachi was allocated only Rs 100 billion instead of the Rs 800 billion it should have received. Kamal added that the federal government directed the city to take funds from the provincial government.
He also criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party over agricultural taxes, saying that while the PPP previously opposed such taxes, former President Asif Ali Zardari announced them after the IMF insisted on their implementation.
Kamal emphasized that discussions about creating new provinces will gain momentum if citizens are denied their rights, reiterating that a constitutional amendment could be applied to the provincial formation law.
