The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan star batsman Babar Azam for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka.
According to an ICC press release, Babar Azam was found guilty of a Level One breach under the Code of Conduct. He was penalized 10 percent of his match fee for hitting the stumps with his bat after being dismissed in the 21st over. The act violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
In addition to the fine, Babar Azam was handed one demerit point. The Pakistan captain accepted the proposed sanction from match referee Ali Naqvi, acknowledging his mistake, so no formal hearing was required.
