Following the 27th Constitutional Amendment, Pakistan’s Supreme Judicial Council, Judicial Commission, and Practice and Procedure Committee have been reconstituted, the Supreme Court announced on Monday.

The court statement confirmed that in consultation with both Chief Justices, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has been appointed as a member of the Supreme Court Judicial Council. Justice Amir Farooq has been named a member of the Judicial Commission, while Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail will also serve on the Practice and Procedure Committee.

Under the new structure, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will head the Supreme Judicial Council, with Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan serving as the council’s second senior member. Justices Muneeb Akhtar, Hassan Rizvi, and Jamal Mandokhail have been confirmed as members of the council, with Justice Mandokhail’s nomination made in consultation with both Chief Justices.

The reconstitution aims to streamline judicial oversight and ensure proper functioning of the country’s top judicial bodies under the recently approved constitutional amendment.
