Police in Islamabad successfully prevented an armed robbery in the Khanna area, authorities said.
According to a spokesperson for Islamabad Police Monday, six armed men on two Honda 125 motorcycles attempted to carry out a robbery. When they encountered a police team conducting routine checks, the suspects opened fire indiscriminately.
Two police officers were hit directly, but protective gear, including bulletproof jackets and helmets, prevented serious injuries.
During the exchange, three suspects were injured by gunfire and subsequently arrested. Police also seized weapons from the apprehended suspects.
A search operation is ongoing to capture the remaining accomplices, while police praised the bravery of their officers for risking their lives to stop the crime.
