The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has achieved the largest recovery in Pakistan’s history, securing a record Rs 8,397 billion over the past two and a half years through actions against corruption, fraud, and illegal allotment of state land.
According to official sources, the recoveries were made between March 2023 and October 2025, marking a dramatic leap compared to the bureau’s earlier performance. From its establishment in 1999 until February 2023 — spanning 23 years — NAB had recovered only Rs 883 billion. The latest figures reflect a nearly tenfold increase in recovery efficiency.
Officials say the current year is expected to add another Rs 2,000 billion to the total, further boosting NAB’s performance indicators.
Sources attribute the bureau’s biggest success to operations carried out through the Land Directorate, where massive amounts of illegally occupied or fraudulently allotted government land were reclaimed. The value of the recovered land runs into trillions of rupees, forming a major portion of the historic recoveries.
The latest numbers are being described by officials as the strongest performance in NAB’s history, reflecting intensified efforts to curb corruption and reclaim public assets.
