Sindh Rangers, acting on a tip-off, arrested four smugglers during a snap check at Hub River Road, Maari Pur, and recovered a large consignment of non-customs cigarettes.
According to a spokesperson for Sindh Rangers, the arrested suspects are Syed Habibullah, Syed Naveed Ahmed, Sanaullah, and Wali Jan. Authorities recovered 47,680 packets of non-customs cigarettes, four mobile phones, and cash from hidden compartments in a passenger bus.
The smugglers revealed that the bus, traveling from Balochistan’s Hazar Ganji Bus Stand to Karachi’s Yusuf Goth Bus Stand, was being used to transport smuggled goods in secret compartments. The accused also disclosed that bus owners had installed hidden spaces specifically for smuggling non-customs items.
Sources said Wali Jan oversaw the installation of these compartments at Yusuf Goth terminal, while Sanaullah managed the clearance of goods from Balochistan and storage at a warehouse in Hub City. Efforts are underway to arrest the bus owners and other accomplices involved in the smuggling network.
The arrested suspects and seized goods have been handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.
