A young Pakistani software engineer from Lahore has developed an artificial intelligence-powered system that promises to significantly reduce cost and time in the telecommunications sector, media reports said on Friday.

Muhammad Usman Basheer, the developer behind the innovation, has created a low-cost conversational agent that integrates with WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) to enhance real-time communication capabilities. The system is designed to make telecom interactions faster, more efficient and far more affordable.

Basheer’s achievement earned him the WebRTC Excellence Award of Asia at the Tech Next Summit in Dubai, where he was recognised for his contribution to next-generation communication technology.

According to organisers, around 80 applications were received from various Asian countries, including India and China, before Basheer’s project was selected for the award.

He has also developed a conferencing architecture that improves synchronization during multi-room audio calls, addressing a long-standing technical challenge in real-time communication systems.
