Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday emphasized enhancing political loyalty within the military while advancing the modernization of the nation’s defense and armed forces in a measured and sustained manner.
Xi, who also serves as Communist Party of China Central Committee general secretary and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during a plenary session with the delegation of the People’s Liberation Army and the People’s Armed Police Force at the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress.
Addressing lawmakers who spoke at the session, Xi highlighted the Party Central Committee’s achievements since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, noting the progress made in political rectification and loyalty within the armed forces. He warned that there is no place in the military for individuals disloyal to the Party or for corruption, stressing that anti-corruption efforts must be unwavering.
Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), Xi called for rigorous oversight mechanisms and close monitoring of critical areas such as fund allocation, exercise of power, and quality control, reinforcing the Party’s vision for a disciplined, modern, and politically loyal military force.
