Saudi Arabia has assured Pakistan of continued oil supplies through an alternative route amid regional tensions, following high-level talks between officials of the two countries.

According to details, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, during which Pakistan requested the use of the Saudi port of Yanbu as an alternative supply route.

During the meeting, the Saudi side conveyed full support and cooperation. The petroleum minister said Saudi authorities have assured secure supply arrangements through the Red Sea port of Yanbu. He added that confirmation was also given regarding the dispatch of a vessel from Pakistan to Yanbu for lifting crude oil shipments.

Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s support during the current situation, stating that efforts would be made to prioritize Pakistan’s oil supplies through the Yanbu route.

Ambassador Al-Maliki reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia would continue to extend full cooperation to Pakistan in case of any emergency needs, emphasizing that both countries stand by each other in times of challenge.

The minister further noted that the government of Pakistan is making comprehensive efforts to ensure continuity of the energy supply chain for the public. He highlighted that most of Pakistan’s petroleum imports currently arrive via the Strait of Hormuz, making support from brotherly countries such as Saudi Arabia particularly significant under prevailing circumstances.
