Petroleum shortage fears emerge as pump owners write to PM

1 min read

Fears of a potential shortage of petroleum products have surfaced in the country, prompting the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association to write a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seeking urgent intervention.

In the letter, the association alleged that oil marketing companies have enforced a quota system, under which petrol pumps are not being supplied fuel in the required quantities. It claimed that despite placing orders, supplies are facing delays and oil tankers are being forced to wait for hours.

The association warned that the situation could trigger an artificial shortage, potentially creating panic among consumers if not addressed promptly.

Calling for immediate government action, the body urged authorities to ensure that oil marketing companies consult stakeholders before imposing any restrictions that affect supply chains.

Petrol pump owners have appealed for the swift restoration of smooth petroleum supplies to avert public inconvenience and prevent a possible fuel crisis.
