Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu region have killed 17 terrorists, including three key commanders, during a series of intelligence-driven operations over the past 48 hours, according to security officials.

Local police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Quick Response Force and other security units jointly carried out operations in Sheeri Khel, Pakka Pahar Khel, Nusr Khel, Domel and nearby areas. Officials say several terrorists were also injured.

Security sources report that all operations were conducted without any casualties among law enforcement personnel, while local communities extended full cooperation. A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered, dealing a significant blow to the terrorist network active in the region.

In Sheeri Khel and Pakka Pahar Khel, forces engaged armed groups linked to the outlawed network, killing 10 terrorists and injuring five. One facilitator was also arrested. Seven bodies were recovered, while three could not be retrieved due to rugged mountainous terrain.

Among those killed were two key commanders — Niaz Ali alias Akasha and Abdullah alias Shipunkoi — both wanted for multiple attacks on police and security forces.

In a separate joint operation by Lakki police, CTD and local peace committees, one wanted terrorist was shot dead in the Nusr Khel area, where residents have begun standing alongside security forces.

Another encounter occurred in Hovid, where terrorists fled after exchanging fire with police and peace committee volunteers.

The largest operation took place in Domel, where terrorists opened fire on a police patrol. Reinforcements from Bannu police, CTD and security forces launched an eight-hour operation, killing six terrorists and injuring several others. The dead included the notorious commander Rasool alias Commander Ariana.

Arms, ammunition and communication devices were seized during the actions.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed commended the police, CTD and security forces for the successful operations, vowing to rid the province of terrorist elements and pursue them to their last hideouts.
