Six people, including two college students, were killed after a vehicle plunged into a deep ravine near Bagnu Ter, police and eyewitnesses said.
The accident occurred when a vehicle, locally known as a “carry van,” lost control due to brake failure near Beeran Gali while traveling from Bagnu Ter toward Abbottabad. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle fell over 1,000 feet into a ravine.
The victims included father and son Zulfiqar and Zubair, two sisters — daughters of Shabbir Ahmed — the driver Yasir Khalil, and another passenger, Akhtar. The two sisters were reportedly on their way to Abbottabad to take exams.
Rescue operations have been hindered by the extreme depth of the ravine. Local residents, working under a “self-help” approach, have been attempting to recover the bodies, expressing frustration that official rescue teams have yet to arrive several hours after the incident.
Authorities have confirmed that initial investigations point to brake failure as the cause of the crash.
