Bannu police foil major terror plot, save local bridge from bomb attack

1 min read

Police in Bannu successfully prevented a major terrorist attack early Friday morning, stopping militants from blowing up a key local bridge in the Basiakhel area.

Authorities said the suspects had attached a homemade explosive device (IED) containing 8 to 10 kilograms of explosives to the main pillar of the Dua Bridge. The Bannu Bomb Disposal Squad quickly intervened and safely neutralized the device, preventing any damage to public infrastructure and potential harm to civilians.

Local residents expressed gratitude to the police for their swift action. “Those who attempt to destroy infrastructure and endanger innocent lives do not deserve mercy,” community members said.

Bannu Regional Police Officer Sajad Khan commended the Bomb Disposal Squad for their prompt response. He emphasized that neutralizing elements that threaten public safety is essential and that the police will continue to take decisive action against such extremists.
