Seven Killed in Terror Attack on Peace Committee Office in Bannu

At least seven people were killed and one injured when armed attackers opened fire on a peace committee office in Huwai, Bannu, late on Friday night.

According to police officials, the assailants specifically targeted the office of the committee’s head, Qari Jaleel. The victims have been identified as Danish, Kamran, Waliullah, Sufyan, Muhammad Niaz, Nauman, and another individual named Sufyan. The injured person has been taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, where the deceased were also brought.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, and the area has been secured for further inquiry.

In response, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, describing it as a “cowardly act” carried out by the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and stated that such attacks aimed at destabilizing peace would not deter the public’s resolve.

The minister emphasized that terrorism undermines stability and called for concerted efforts to prevent further such attacks.
