Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired the first review meeting of the committee formed by the private sector to promote industrial development in Pakistan. The meeting focused on policy recommendations aimed at boosting industrial growth, investment, and employment.
Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister emphasized that national economic growth, job creation, and increased income are impossible without industrial progress. He said that facilitating business operations and attracting investment remain top priorities for the government.
Highlighting the role of the private sector, Shahbaz Sharif noted that proposals from business leaders are critical for industrial development. He praised the efforts of entrepreneurs in preparing practical recommendations and directed that these suggestions be carefully reviewed to develop an actionable implementation plan.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the support of the Pakistani business community during challenging economic times, which has helped the country navigate crises. He expressed optimism that with continued efforts, Pakistan’s economic trajectory will strengthen further, while stressing the need for sustained hard work to achieve national development goals.
The meeting in Islamabad was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, special advisors Muhammad Ali, Haroon Akhtar, and Saqib Shirazi, as well as Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiani. Members of the industrial working group presented policy recommendations aimed at increasing Pakistan’s industrial competitiveness, including comparisons with regional countries.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed that these recommendations be integrated into a national policy framework and instructed relevant authorities to conduct a detailed review for timely implementation.
