KP CM writes to CM Punjab, protests alleged restrictions on Imran Khan’s Adiala Jail meetings

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi has written a formal letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, expressing strong concern over what he described as “obstructions” in meetings with former prime minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.

In the letter, Afridi stated that blocking meetings with Imran Khan despite court orders is “unacceptable,” adding that such actions raise serious questions about compliance with judicial directives.

He further alleged that Imran Khan’s sisters and other family members were mistreated during their visit to the jail, claiming that elderly women were made to sit outside on the road. The chief minister termed the treatment as a violation of human and moral values.

Afridi presented four demands to the Punjab Chief Minister: immediate implementation of court orders regarding meetings, disciplinary action against officials accused of misconduct, clear instructions to jail and police authorities, and the establishment of a dignified and lawful system for meeting arrangements.

He reminded Punjab authorities that Imran Khan is a former prime minister and leader of the PTI, under whose mandate the KP government is functioning.

The KP chief minister called for urgent action from the Punjab government to ensure protection of political leadership and the fundamental rights of citizens.
