The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shifted the upcoming Under-23 One-Day tournament matches from Delhi to Mumbai due to severe air pollution in the capital.
According to Indian media reports, Delhi and its surrounding areas are currently experiencing hazardous air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 342, the highest in the country. Forecasts indicate that pollution levels are likely to worsen in the coming days, prompting BCCI to relocate the matches for the safety of players and officials.
The Indian Supreme Court has also issued directives to keep indoor sporting activities prioritized during periods of extreme pollution.
The Under-23 One-Day tournament will now be hosted by the Mumbai Cricket Association, with matches scheduled to take place from November 25 to December 1, 2025.
BCCI officials said the decision was taken to ensure the health and safety of young cricketers while maintaining the tournament schedule.
