The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) have shut down a major section of the M-1 Motorway after severe fog reduced visibility to zero, creating dangerous travel conditions.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, the motorway has been completely closed in both directions from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Chach Interchange. The decision was taken to protect travellers and prevent any major accidents amid rapidly worsening weather.
Officials said fog density increased sharply over the past few hours, turning driving conditions extremely hazardous. Motorway Police urged travellers to avoid all non-essential movement until the weather improves.
Drivers have been advised to use fog lights, maintain extra distance from vehicles ahead and strictly avoid speeding during foggy weather. Authorities also directed citizens planning to travel to check the latest updates by calling the Motorway Helpline 130.
For real-time information, passengers can also follow the NHMP’s official pages on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.
