The Punjab Home Department has constituted 12 Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) to probe cases against the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), officials said.

According to a government notification, seven JITs will investigate cases in Lahore while five will operate in Sheikhupura. The teams will handle cases registered under terrorism and other serious charges. Representatives from the police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and intelligence agencies are part of the JITs.

The Punjab Police had requested the formation of these JITs to strengthen investigations into the cases. Police sources added that over 75 cases have been registered against TLP, with more than 2,000 named suspects already in custody.
