Pakistani Scrabble player Wasim Khatri won a bronze medal at the prestigious World Scrabble Championship, showcasing remarkable skill in a highly competitive field.
The championship, held in Accra, Ghana, featured over 200 players from 28 countries. Khatri won 22 out of 32 matches, narrowly missing a spot in the finals due to a slim margin, but his performance improved his global ranking significantly.
In the team event, Pakistan also performed impressively. The national squad, comprising Wasim Khatri, Hassan Hadi, Ahzam Siddiqi, Muhammad Inayatullah, and Tariq Pervez, finished fourth overall, underscoring the country’s growing presence in international Scrabble competitions.
Canada’s Adam Leikin defeated New Zealand’s Nigel Richards 4-2 in the final to claim the world champion title.
The event highlighted rising talent from nations like Pakistan, signaling strong potential for future global contests.
