India all out for 93, South Africa clinches first test win in India in 15 years

South Africa defeated India in a thrilling Kolkata Test, chasing a modest target of 124 runs to record their first Test win in India in 15 years.

India was bowled out for 93 runs, falling short of the target after a tense batting performance. Captain Shubman Gill missed the innings after being admitted to hospital.

Key Indian contributions included Washington Sundar with 31, Axar Patel 26, Ravindra Jadeja 18, and Dhruv Jurel 13, while Rishabh Pant scored 2. KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make significant contributions.

South Africa’s Simon Harmer led the bowling with 4 wickets, supported by Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen with 2 each, and Aiden Markram taking one.

Earlier, South Africa had resumed the third day at 93/7 in their second innings, but captain Temba Bavuma remained unbeaten on 55, helping the team reach 153. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took 4 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Siraj 2 each, while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel claimed one wicket apiece.

In the first innings, South Africa had posted 159 runs after winning the toss, while India responded with 189, taking a slender 30-run lead.

This victory marks a historic milestone for South Africa, ending a 15-year winless streak in India in Test cricket.
