The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five Afghan nationals involved in obtaining illegal identification documents in Peshawar, officials said.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrests were made during a raid by the agency’s smuggling circle at a private hotel in Dubgari. The suspects Ali Khan, Ajmal, Qasim, Ahmed, and Hamza were living in Pakistan illegally.

Officials said the suspects were found in possession of Afghan documents as well as forged Pakistani identity cards.

Initial investigations revealed that the individuals had entered Pakistan through illegal routes and had used fraudulent means to acquire Pakistani ID cards and passports.

The FIA spokesperson added that the suspects confessed to planning to use the fake Pakistani documents to obtain work visas for Saudi Arabia. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
