From selling pens to owning four homes: Yogesh Tripathi’s inspiring journey

ISLAMABAD: Indian television actor Yogesh Tripathi, best known for his role as Happu Singh in the popular sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain, once struggled so much that he had to sell pens on the streets and sleep at a railway station.

According to forign media, Yogesh moved to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh in 2004 with dreams of becoming an actor. With no home to live in, he often spent nights at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal railway station. To survive, he worked as a background artist in stage plays and sold pens on the streets.

Yogesh later admitted that he kept his family in the dark, telling them he was doing a computer course while secretly pursuing theater. His breakthrough came in 2007 when he appeared in a television commercial. Soon after, he landed a role in the comedy show F.I.R., which opened the door to more projects.

His big moment came with Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain, where his portrayal of Happu Singh made him a household name. Today, Yogesh owns four houses and reportedly earns around 2.4 million rupees per month.

Reflecting on his journey, the actor said he reached this stage through sheer hard work and dedication, and he continues to love his craft deeply.
